How I Help

The therapeutic relationship, the bond between client and therapist, is the foundation of successful therapy. It is the container in which we build the trust, empathy, and understanding that is necessary for healing. Without a strong therapeutic relationship, progress in therapy can be difficult to achieve. For this reason, I prioritize building and maintaining a positive and supportive therapeutic relationship with my clients.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I recognize the impact of trauma on our mental health and physical health and emphasize building greater safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment in my work with clients. My aim is the equip you with a greater sense of trust and safety in yourself and a better understanding the effects of trauma so that you can heal and move forward in your life in meaningful ways.

A guiding framework of my approach is feminist therapy. On a macro level, it is my belief that each of us has a role in building a better world through promoting empowerment and gender equality. As a therapist, I have found that recognizing the impact of social and cultural factors on our health and wellbeing provides key context for understanding our experiences. I welcome discussion of our differences.

I would like to take a moment to congratulate you on making the courageous decision to seek therapy. Having been there myself, I can say that getting started is often the hardest part. Sometimes, we have not have known anything better. It takes strength and determination to be where you are. I have every confidence in each of our healing abilities and I hope that you will see the benefits of this choice in your life.
